Candied Citrus Slices DIY

From lemons to limes to oranges, the rinds of any citrus fruit can be transformed into sparking, delectable toppings for any of your favorite treats! Using simple ingredients, these sweet bites are great chopped, sprinkled, or dipped in chocolate and make excellent gifts during the holidays or the perfect garnish for your favorite sour cocktail.

  • Materials:
  • Assortment of citrus - lemons, oranges and limes
  • 3 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • Wire cooling rack and parchment paper
  • White Candy Melts
  • Assortment of your favorite toppings: sprinkles, chocolate chips, sweetened coconut, edible glitter, etc
  • Steps:

  1. In a large skillet, bring 1 cup water and 3 cups sugar to a boil

    2. Cut citrus into ¼" slices
  3. "BACARDI¨

    3. Add slices to sugar/water mixture. Cook at a simmer, turning occasionally for 30 minutes

    4. Transfer the slices to a cooling rack. Cool the candied citrus for at least 12 hours before dipping into candy melts.
  5. 5. Dip the slices into melted candy melts, halfway. Decorate slices with different toppings
